Our weekend

Friday was our first official day off this summer! For dinner that night, I decided to try out a new recipe I found on this blog for Chicken Teriyaki. It looked sooo easy and with so few ingredients, I figured I couldn't mess it up. However, it was NOTHING like the blogger raved it was... so I must have done something wrong. You see... I tend to leave things out or add too much or even sometimes the wrong thing.

I guess I'm on a bad streak of cooking lately. Last week I made (well tried to make) another Chocolate Chip Banana Nut bread, but it came out goopy and uncooked in the middle. Um....???? Not sure what happened there, but I'm sure I didn't measure right or forgot something.


However, I did redeem myself Saturday night when I made "Molten Lava Toffee Brownies" (got the recipe from this blog) and "Slow Cooker Creamy Italian Chicken" for dinner and dessert. Kirby and I really enjoyed both and devoured almost 1/2 the pan of brownies that night.

The biggest project of the weekend was working on our landscaping. A few months ago, our wonderful neighbors offered us to take some of their banana plants from their yard. Neither of us have much of a "green thumb" and we've already killed 3 palm trees since living in NMB. So instead of trying for a 4th, we decided to take them up on their offer and try something different. We are very happy with the way it turned out.

Okay... Okay... We finally joined...

Scrapbooking

I've been scrapbooking with some friends a lot lately. I'm just a novice compared to these experts, but I really enjoy it. I've been trying not to get behind... which is good, because they all say it's hard to keep scrapin' when the baby comes along (I'm the only one without kids). Since we won't be trying for a little one for another year, I'm just keeping up with scrapbooking about Kirby and I.

Time with our niece Kailee

Our niece Kailee is on vacation in Myrtle Beach with her friend Beth this week. Yesterday Kirby and I picked them up and took them out for a little "retail therapy" away from the very humid temperatures. We had fun shopping and eating dinner together at the mall.













Kirby even got into the shopping. Haha... ;)

We'll get to see Kailee again soon when her family comes back to Myrtle Beach in a few weeks. I can't wait to spend time with some more family!

weekend recap

Kirby and I didn't do anything out of the ordinary this weekend except for enjoy each other's company. We always have such a good time doing the most simple or random things. We started off taking the first of many weekend rides in the Lotus and then went to dinner at Mexico Lindo (a separate post on that later). We always have a great experience while we are there and leave with VERY full bellies!











Saturday morning we woke up and went for a walk around our neighborhood. It has been so hot and windy here, we decided to stay inside and play some Rummicub afterwards (surprisingly, Kirby won). I wanted to use my new apron again, so we took a golf cart ride to get the ingredients for Chocolate Chip Banana Nut Bread. :) While the bread was baking Kirby gave his car it's first wash.











Sunday morning we woke up early to try out the new contemporary service at the church right down the street from us. We both enjoyed it and might try it again next Sunday. Later that afternoon when it cooled off a bit, we went to the beach. On our way there...... ummm....for the people who know my husband well you will gasp when you hear/see what is next.





Kirby ran into the curb and gave our golf cart wheel and tire it's first curb rash! This is totally not like my husband to drive so carelessly, so I told him I had to bust his chops on the blog about it. Here is the proof.... he got it good!!








We finally got to the beach after our little "incident" and relaxed a little bit before heading back home to the AC. We took it easy Sunday night and got ready for our final week of Krunch Kids the next day.

Hello Exige S...

With the Elise departed two weeks ago, next up, the Exige S...

Without a doubt, one of the coolest experiences I've had in a while. I felt like a 5-year old on Christmas morning. The tractor/trailer couldn't make the turn down our street, so Anna and I walked down to where the truck stopped. They had to take two cars off to get to mine. The second car off was a jaw-dropping Porsche GT3 RS, on it's way to Virginia Beach. This is not your typical high-volume, cookie cutter Porsche you see on the road everyday, but instead, an extremely rare car 99.9% of us will never see on the street. This particular one had a window sticker of approximately $160,000. Ouch.

After the GT3 RS, off came the Exige S. Never in a million years did I think I would buy a car sight unseen. Nevermind the fact it was 2,500 miles away in California. Not only was this the first time I'd seen this car, but also the first time I'd ever seen an Exige S in person. Lotus only exports about 300 per year to the US, and it seems most of them find homes in California and Texas.
