day 20 & 21

A day of shopping after working out and cleaning inspired this comfy outfit!

On the last day of the remix challenge, we went to dinner with Jane and her husband.  Jane worked with a student in our classroom this year .  We had a great year together and I'm really going to miss her next year!

Jane was the only one that did the 21 for 21 remix challenge with me.  Here we are in our last outfit.  We can't wait to wear anything we want tomorrow!

Surprise 40th

Friday night I helped Kirby tie on his coconut shell bikini (what?!) and we headed out to Jon and Freddy's surprise 40th birthday party!  It was beach/surfer themed (hence the coconut shells) party for 2 beach/surfing obsessed guys, Jon and Freddy.  We all got leis from the girls (their daughters) as we walked in and the wives made all the food and served them in sand pails with shovels.

It was a fun way to celebrate the big 4-0!

Krunch Kids

Kirby here (guest blogger, since my wife bought me out and now owns 99% of the blog :)...

Since we're getting ready to start our 6-week Krunch Kids fitness camp, Anna and I thought we'd share the story behind the program.  In an effort to help combat childhood obesity, and using my personal training and PE teaching background, I came up with the idea called "Crunch Kids Fitness" seven years ago in 2004.  I wrote up a lengthy proposal and presented it to the local parks and recreation division in Baltimore, MD.  They approved the program, enabling me to be an independent contractor for them.  Happy with how the summer camp went, I decided to take it one step further, and turned it into a year-round program.  I operated out of the elementary school where I taught, and ran the program for two hours each morning in the gym before the school day started.  This "formula" worked well, as the children who needed to lose weight did.  I remember one of the children lost 17 pounds in two months.  I worked the program myself in the mornings during the school year, and hired a local high school/college student to help me out during the summers.

Not long after launching the website (sometime during the first year), I was contacted by a lawyer representing the chain of fitness clubs called "Crunch".  They contended my logo too closely resembled theirs (although I disagreed), and requested I change it or face legal action.  They also requested I give up the rights to my website domain name.  Not wanting to fight that battle, I complied by designing a new logo, changing the spelling to Krunch Kids, and dropping the word "Fitness".  Luckily, I was able to make a simple switch and use http://www.krunchkids.com/ as the new domain.  Fortunately, they were satisfied with my changes, and everything was fine.

Upon Anna and I getting together in 2006, she began helping out with Krunch Kids.  After moving to North Myrtle Beach in 2007 (if I remember correctly, we moved down for good right after the last day of camp that summer), we started the summer program up here the following year, and have been running it ever since at North Myrtle Beach Primary.

For any parents in the area looking for a great way for your child to stay in shape over summer vacation, check out our program... Krunch Kids

bittersweet

I said a sad goodbye to my students today, but a happy hello to summer.  I'm an emotional person and today sure showed it. Since the primary school stops at first grade, I don't get to see my kids again next year.  I had such a wonderful class so it was sad to see them leave this afternoon.

On a happy note... Ms. Garrison celebrated her retirement today!  I see sun, sand, and shopping in her future! ;)

Outback graciously hosted our end-of-the-year party after school.  The whole staff was able to eat lunch and celebrate another successful year together.  Here's to a great summer!

Last school day during the challenge... phew, I made it.

day 18 and not much else

The students only have a 1/2 day left... and then it's summer!

I'm definitely behind on blogging so I have a lot to catch up on when summer starts.  Until then... here is what I wore for 1st grade graduation today.

Day 17

Tonight Kirby and I were able to meet up with Kirby's old friend and roommate from their Ocean City Beach Patrol days.  We ate dinner at Miyabi's and had a great time catching up and hanging out with everyone. They plan on being in the area for future summer vacations, so it'll be nice to keep in touch with them.

Day 17... and only 4 more left!

School is almost out for the summer, so I'm a little swamped right now.  I have pictures from Terra's Steelers themed baby shower that I'll post tomorrow.  It was a great shower for her and baby boy Bodkins!

remix challenge

Only 5 more days of my challenge left!
Sunday was the hardest day so far.  As you know, we traveled to Charleston to spend the day with my family and go to a baby shower.  Well... in one day, I tried to cheat twice!  First, I talked myself out of wearing a dress I borrowed from someone.  And thank goodness for Kirby, because then he talked me out of wearing a pair of shoes I didn't have in my 21 pieces.
Close call!

However, I wasn't talked out of of the shoes until we left the house for Charleston, so I don't have a picture of the "real" outfit I wore.  You get the idea though. :)

Steppin' out of the box with my outfit today!
Black and brown together (even though you can't really tell in the picture) and my shirt was tucked in!
