Katia

Thursday afternoon Kirby emailed me during school with his "plan" for us that night.  He wanted to drive down to Pawley's Island (about an hour from us) to surf some of the waves Katia was supposed to be making and then go to dinner at Carrabba's afterwards. 

So we did just that.  I packed up my stuff at school and got home as soon as I could.  We exchanged stories about our school day on the way down and pulled up to the beach around 5:15. 

Kirby was able to enjoy almost 2 hours of good surf (well...better than NMB at least) while I took pictures and read on the beach. 

Then we stopped at a sprinkler system on the side of Hwy 17 to "freshin' up".  With wet hair & suits and looking like beach bums, we ate a great dinner at Carrabba's in Surfside Beach.  We were definitely tired when we got home around 9:30  (normally when I'm in bed) but had a great spontaneous trip together!

Fun Run/Walk

Have you ever tried Zumba?  I've heard so much about it and still hadn't done it... until today!  My friend Jeanna, organized a group of girls to get together after school and give it a try.  I think it was a success!  We were sweating, laughing, and we'll be coming back for more next week!

Labor Day

Kirby and I did a little bit of work around the house today... bills, picked weeds... that's it.  Then we took a nap on the beach.

We hope everyone had a great long weekend with family and friends.

Land Paddling Part 2

  Here's Anna with the final version of the "land paddle"... 1-1/4" wooden closet rod, 2 lacrosse balls, tennis racket grip, and a couple coats of flat black spray paint...

And off we went for a little land paddling core workout.  Of course this was another opportunity to capture the moment with the GoPro camera...
