Meet the Kings

Kirby and I met while teaching in Baltimore, Maryland in January 2006. He was a PE teacher at the same elementary school where I started long-term substitute teaching. In July of 2006 we started to spend a lot of time together and made our relationship official. Our first "official date" was at a Kelly Clarkson concert with one of Kirby's former students.

During our 2007 spring break, we randomly decided to pick up and drive down the east coast to look for a potential place to live some day. On our way down, we found the city of North Myrtle Beach and fell in love with the area. We even stopped and asked a police officer about some schools. As luck would have it, NMB Primary was hiring a PE teacher for the next year! Little did we know, that everything would fall into place for us.

On June 15, 2007, the last day of school in Maryland, Kirby proposed to me at school. He had picked up the ring that day during his planning period with anticipation to propose that weekend. However, he couldn't wait, so he proposed in the office of his gym. I said yes and they announced it to the staff and students over the PA system at the end of the day. It couldn't have been more perfect! That spring, while Kirby was visiting for an interview in NMB, he found our house. I ended up getting a job that summer at the same school.

On August 9, 2008, we got married on the beach near our home. We invited family and friends to celebrate with us.

Currently, I am a first grade teacher and Kirby is a PE teacher at the middle school. In the summer we operate Krunch Kids, our children's fitness program. I enjoy scrapbooking, learning to cook, going to the beach, blogging, & shopping. Kirby enjoys surfing, playing guitar, working out, and working on cars, motorcycles, or just about anything mechanical. We both love spending time together and do a lot of it!

On June 21, 2012, we welcomed our son into the world!  We love being parents and learning all about our little guy.  We look forward to making memories as a family of 3 now!
