Commenting Challenge- Day 4

Christmas in July.  Honestly... I have no idea for this post.  I love Christmas, but I have no ideas on what I'm getting anyone.  Actually, if I think about it too much, I'll start getting stressed out.  So I'm going to do a photo dump right now and just catch up with some things that have been going on around here.

If you want to join though- click here.

Todays Topic:
It may be July, but who is thinking about Christmas gifts already? I know I am! Share some of your gift ideas for this upcoming Christmas season and/or share about the best gift you have received!

A newly retired teacher from school got married this weekend and a group of teachers, past and present, joined her to celebrate!  She was so happy!

Kaden's transitioning to the 1 year old room at daycare.  I had jury duty Monday and after I was dismissed, I was that mom and stopped by daycare to see how he was doing.
Staring out the window while he played on the playground.
Yes... and I took pictures through the window.
I know.
Crazy.
Even worse, I cried for about 30 minutes afterwards.
Momma's really struggling with this transition.

We've been playing outside a lot!

Our buddy has been waking up from naps grumpy lately.  So yesterday we tried laying down in our bed with him to see if he'd fall back asleep.  He sure did!  He was out for another hour or so!  Those big kids are wearing him out!

Today was the last day of Krunch Kids.  We had another great summer!

We walked to our neighbor's house this evening to let Kaden play with their dogs.  He loves them, but we're still working on calling them by the correct name.  Dog.  Not cat.  ;)

Commenting Challenge- Day 3

Link-up here if you wanna join! :)

I hope I'm not the only one, but I've pinned way... way... more projects than I've ever actually done.

But one the I loved doing was with Kaden a few months ago (video here).  Actually I thought about doing it again since he's a bit older now.
Put child's name with masking tape on a canvas. Allow them to paint (or fingerpaint) the entire canvas. Dry. Take off tape.

This is actually the most recent one... his 4th of July onesie.

And one of my favorite projects I've actually done from Pinterest is our collage wall.

Love it.

13 months

1 month into his 2nd year of life!
A toddler.
He's a toddler... right?
Or is he still a baby?
Either way, we can't believe it!

Here's what our baby...errr...toddler has been up to lately.

-loves trashcans!  Everywhere we go, it never fails... he'll point out the trash cans!

-helps out around the house. Puts silverware away. Takes out the trash (see above). Wipes messes up.

-walking... almost running... like crazy!  Nothing stops him either.  When he falls down, he's right back up.

-talking like crazy too!  New words he's saying lately are: chair, cat, dog, car, hot, hat, sunscreen, golf cart, out, off, yellow, trashcan... of course they aren't perfectly clear, but we can understand him. We love hearing him talk!

-starting to transition into the 1 year old room at daycare (very hard for mom)

-eating pretty well.  He'll almost eat anything we are eating, when we are eating it.... especially if it comes from our plate and fork.  He's been "using" a spoon & fork... and when I say "using" I mean... like a drumstick.  ;)  But hey, it's practice. (...or he just uses his hands, like the picture below)

-healthy.  Knock on wood.  He's starting to go back to daycare more often, so we hope he stays healthy.

-very clingy.  I think it's normal, but goodness, gracious.  He wants our full attention all. the. time.

-favorite toys are a fishing net (that he's caught more bugs in the yard than fish in the water), water hose, the fort Dad made him, and books

Commenting Challenge- Day 2

Favorite TV show/series/reality show...

Well...we don't have cable TV... just an antenna, nor do we have time to watch TV so... I guess I wouldn't call it a "favorite" but more... "my only choice"... but the news is what I watch the most.  I love the Today Show and usually our local news is on in the morning and evening.  It's more background noise than anything.

Since that's boring to blog about, I'll share what I use to watch B.K. (before Kaden- which is why we got rid of the cable... since we didn't have time).

I was into a lot of reality shows!

Dance Moms

American Idol (My husband and I actually met Kelly)
Teen Mom

So... okay... a little bit about me and my family.  You can read the "Meet the Kings" section above or I can give you list of things you may (or may not) find interesting about me and my family.

1. I met my husband when I was long-term subbing at his school in Maryland.
2. He proposed to me on the last day of the 2006-2007 school year.
3. He's from Maryland.
4. I'm from Ohio.
5. We got married on the beach in August of 2008.
6. We live in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
7. We have a 13 month old boy, Kaden.

8. He is our ev.ery.thing... as you can tell from my Instagram.
9. We are both teachers and currently loving summer break right now!

10. I love blogging and meeting new people.
11. I'm not a photographer, but I love am obsessed with taking pictures.

Children's Museum

Last night, we met up with some friends at the Children's Museum in Myrtle Beach.  We didn't even realize we had a children's museum, so we were excited to check it out!

Obviously, Kaden had to find a trashcan while we were waiting for his friends to get there.  No... the obsession hasn't died down.

Once everyone was there and ready to go, we scattered around and explored the place.  The sand art area was one of Kaden's favorite things.

At this point, we were all getting a little hungry, so we said goodbye to our friends and headed out.  It was a lot of fun and I know Kaden's going to want to go back again! ;)

My first link-up with "5 on Friday"!  I haven't linked up in so long... probably since before Kaden was born... so I'm excited! :)

1. GOODBYE GOLF CART
Today we waved goodbye to our golf cart, as a great family drove away to Wilmington to enjoy it.  I'd be lying if I said I didn't shed a tear when Kirby said it was going to be sold today.   It was our first golf cart!  We rode it everywhere we could when the weather was good.  And really... the hardest part of selling it was because Kaden loved it!  I mean... really loved it!  He would say "golf cart" over and over again when we would tell him we were going on a ride.  The good news is we are going to get another one.  Kirby's already on it!

2.  SUMMER LOVIN'
Gosh!  Kirby and I have been soaking up every minute we can this summer.  We've been so busy doing things with Kaden.  Here is what we've been up to lately-

took our first trip to the public library

played a lot with his friend, Daveena

hung out at the beach with the first grade teachers and families

stayed cool and played inside with his new water toy from Uncle Talan and Aunt Paula

3. SCHOOL- WHAT?
Even though we still have a good chunk of summer left, my brain is already in Back-to-School overload.  My Pinterest is blowing up with other teachers having the same issue.  I will say this though... I secretly love getting new supplies, organizing and getting things ready for a new year.

4.  "BIG BOY" ROOM
Kaden officially started transitioning over to the 1 year old room this week. Yesterday, he was with them on the playground and for circle time and lunch.  They said he did well, all things considered (being tired and with unfamiliar people).  Again... I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry.  (Are you learning something about me... Ms. Emotional)

5.  CABLE
We stopped getting cable a few months ago.  I was a little skeptical at first, but realized we didn't really need it, nor did we have time for it.  However, we did buy an antenna to be able to watch the basic channels.  Lately though, I wish we didn't even have those channels.  Everything in the news lately is horrible.

Stop over to Hello! Happiness for Five on Friday!
