Splish Splash

Yesterday NMB Middle School had their Spring Fling event.  The kids bought tickets and participated in many fun activities.  They had food, Carolina Quench, inflatables, guitar hero, pictures with a snake, the dunk tank, and many more things.  Kirby was one of the adventurous teachers to sit in the dunk tank.

Hope everyone is haivng a great weekend!  We are having a very relaxing Saturday together.

What a royal day!

I know not everyone is into this whole royal wedding thing... but it's a love story... you've gotta love it!
I'm not ashamed.  Yes, I woke up at 4am and I cried twice.  It's not surprising though because I'm a sap!

We even celebrated the wedding at school.  Teachers, staff, & kids were all invited to dress up in their "royal clothing".  We sure did have some mighty good lookin' royalty at NMBP!

storms & the royal wedding

Both are all over the news today.
Both are all I've been thinking/talking about today.

We didn't get any storms... actually we didn't even get rain... just a lot of clouds. (Thank goodness)

I'll post pictures from school's royal wedding celebration tomorrow.
Whiiich... let me tell you.  It's hard to dress like royalty.  I still don't have anything picked out.  I guess if I was real royalty, I'd have someone else pick it out for me.

it's Wednesday again

I'm loving... it is a 4 day week & it's already half way over.

I'm loving... 26 days until the end of the school year.
Woop Woop!

I'm loving... Rachel's baby shower is this weekend.  I'm not happy I can't make it though. She's having a little girl... and I will be there to meet her in July!  :)

I'm loving... the beach!

I'm loving... the royal wedding is Friday.  We are even celebrating the occasion at school.  We are dressing up like "royality"... big hats, fancy dresses, family jewels.  It should be fun!

I'm loving... my husband.

What are you loving?  Link up here.

Happy Birthday Kristin!

It was Kristin's (The Todd's) birthday today and Mrs. Markham made some delicious chocolate chocolate chip cake for her birthday celebration at school.  I hope it was a great birthday Mrs. Todd!

Okay... if you are from the NMB area, you've probably seen JC's Just Chicken.

Kirby and I have heard a lot about it, but none of it has been too good.  So we decided to give it a try for ourselves.  Turns out (after a long detailed talk with a manager) the place was opened by a man from Canada and if it does well, he plans on opening a few more in different states.  We also learned they used to have a different chicken recipe (more spicy) and they heard a lot of people didn't care for it.  When they found this out, they changed their chicken recipe (now it's not as spicy) and gave out coupons for people to come back in and try the new stuff.

Well... it satisfied my bottomless pit husband!  I'm sure we'll be back in the near future.

The last day

Our last day of spring break was today... booo, hisss, moan.

However, we ended it with a beautiful day!  We've been working on getting our lawn to look better this year so Kirby put fertilizer on it and already sprayed the weeds twice this spring.

We don't want weeds!

Happy Easter

We hope all our friends and family had a wonderful Easter!

Kirby and I have had a great Easter Sunday together!  We got up early and went to breakfast before heading to church.  Then we met Dave and Darlene for another relaxing, beautiful day on the beach.   For dinner, we made ourselves some shrimp quesadillas and had chips & salsa from Mexico Lindo.  Not your typical Easter dinner, but it's just right for us!  Now we are going to finish the day with a movie.  One more day to sleep in.... YAY!

R & R with D & D

The past few days Kirby and I have been able to spend some time with Dave & Darlene.  They live up in Ocean City, Maryland and come to North Myrtle Beach once or twice a year.  We always have a relaxing time with them when they come.  Usually we do dinner at Mexico Lindo and then cook a homemade seafood feast at our house.  Two days in a row... stuffing our faces!

It was beautiful today, so we headed to the beach to hang out with them.  2 days left of spring break and we are trying to enjoy every last bit of it!

A bit of surf...

As soon as Anna and I put our tent up on Monday at our campsite in the OBX, we headed over the dune.  She relaxed on the beach and I hit the water.  Overall, the surf wasn't anything like I was hoping for during our trip, but at least there was a little something the day we arrived... waist to chest, kinda clean, a little mushy...

OBX camping trip

I was going to tell a bunch of stories about our trip, but I think I'll let the pictures speak for themselves instead (for the most part anyway).  **Okay, now that I'm finished, looking back over the post, I didn't really let the pictures speak for themselves.  I didn't tell you all the details though... so you're lucky! ;)

The tornado destruction we drove through in North Carolina.

Headin' over the bridge...

 Settin' up shop

The view of our "home" from the dunes

Kirby wanted to take duct tape with us and I questioned it as we were packing.  He was right though... he ripped his fingernail off his finger a bit after only being there for about an hour.  We didn't have any band aids, so he made one with a paper towel and duct tape.  Good ol' duct tape!

Beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

Serendipity House from the movie Nights in Rodanthe.  This house was used in the movie and eventually it needed to be moved because the ocean water was washing up onto the house.  It was interesting to get to see the house.  Click here to see it before it was moved or here to see the house being moved to it's new place.

We were in such a secluded area with very few stores, restaurants, or anything for that matter.  But good ol' Walmart pulled through for us when we needed to get an air mattress.  We tried sleeping on camping mats the first night and well... lets just say we didn't get much sleep.  So we decided to get an air mattress.  Walmart was 45 miles from where we were staying, but it was worth the drive!

Jockey's Ridge is the tallest active sand dune system in the Eastern United States.  We had a good time exploring these huge mounds of sand... and got a lot of exercise and sun while doing it.  Click here to learn more!

They had pay loaders on the main highway near us to remove the sand off the roads.  It was almost like the north's snow removal system.

Having some fun at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse!

On our way home from Hatteras, we stumbled upon Burger Burger.  We had been craving a little dive place that had good burgers and this definitely hit the spot.

It was a fun camping experience... and yes, we'd do it again!
