cry baby

I know I'm emotional (and pregnant), but I think this story is sooo touching.  I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm almost afraid to go to the theater.  I'll probably cry my eyes out...one of those ugly cries too.

inspiration for maternity photos

Kirby and I are going to try and take our own maternity photos this weekend.  This past weekend I really blew up Pinterest with maternity photo inspiration...sorry for all my non-pregnant friends.
Here are a few ideas I'd love to recreate!

5150

A few weeks ago, I might have thought that number was a TV channel or something.

I now know this is the name of a guitar amp designed and used by Eddie Van Halen!  The amp Kirby has been wanting forever and anxiously awaiting to be delivered.  He calls it his "dream amp", and just like all his toys, he's been playing with it ever since it arrived!

week 23

Maternity Clothes? bigger, stretchy clothes, but not too many maternity

Stretch Marks? still using my lotion/cream, drinking a lot of water, and keeping my fingers crossed

Gender?  Kaden

Movement?  Oh yes... I feel him when I'm sitting at the computer a lot.  I'm not sure if it's the way I have my feet propped up or what...

Sleep?  I put the pillow between my legs so that's helping me with the backaches I'e been getting while sleeping.

Food Cravings? nothing

What I Miss?  shaving and painting my toenails with ease ;) haha...

Symptoms?  growing belly.  It's starting to get in the way of some things!

Best Moment Last Week? Eating dinner with Kirby and laughing so hard my stomach hurt!  I love that he makes me laugh!  Kaden was probably thinking "what the heck is going on out there?!"

Looking Forward to? Our appointment next Wednesday!

time lapse

I thought this would be neat to keep up with my photos with side-by-side shots.  You don't really see any big changes until around 14 weeks.  Well except in my butt that is...Dang!!  Look at that thing grow!  Compare week 6 to week 21... I can't balance anything on my bump yet, but I'm sure I could on my rump!

I love being pregnant though! :)

week 22

I really need to keep up with posting my weekly updates sooner.  Saturday morning I confused myself and couldn't figure out how many weeks along we were!
Kaden weighs about a pound & is almost a foot long!!!

Maternity Clothes? I'm not super comfortable in maternity clothes.  I love wearing dresses!  I can't wait until spring (which is basically here already) so I can wear flip flops and dresses.  I will say the maternity jeans I have on in the picture weren't too bad to wear today.  I think I filled them out a little more so they stayed up better.

Stretch Marks? nothing yet... yay!

Gender? boy.  Kaden Douglas

Movement? Kirby felt him kick last Wednesday!  He's officially a believer now!

Sleep? When I sleep... it's great, but I toss and turn a lot.  My back and hips are starting to bother me.  Any suggestions would be awesome :)

Food Cravings? nothing particular, just food in general.  I have had no food problems this pregnancy (knock on wood).  Except maybe eating too much. ;)

What I Miss?  a quick shower routine.... haha.  Sometimes I dread putting that thick, sticky lotion all over my body!

Symptoms? itchy skin.  I guess things are stretchin'!

Best Moment Last Week? The best moment was when Kirby could feel Kaden kick.  I've been wanting that to happen for a few weeks now and loved the moment when it finally happened.  I also like deciding on Kaden's bedding and starting our registry today.

Looking Forward to? getting the bedding in the mail.  Even though it probably won't be here for awhile, but I'm excited!

Kaden's bedding...check!

We finally made a decision and ordered Kaden's bedding last night.  Good ol' Kirby... he found what I was looking for on EBay for cheaper than the websites asking price.

We plan on working on the nursery during spring break, so we aren't in much of a hurry to get things yet.  I did want to get the bedding though because I wanted to be able to start looking for different things to match and officially decide on a paint color for the walls.  I'm glad we did because the estimated shipping date isn't going to be until possibly March or April.  I can't wait to get it!

week 21

So on Monday night I knew I had only 1 day left to take a picture in my 21st week, so I decided to take it in my pajamas that night.

My professional photographer (aka- Kirby) and I tried to do it in other places where the shadow wasn't so bad, but obviously didn't succeed.  The shadow drives.me.crazy!

Maternity Clothes? maternity pants and lots of regular dresses and shirts

Stretch Marks? thankfully, no.

Gender? BOY

Movement? I can confidently say yes now.  I love it too!!

Sleep? I'm actually sleeping the best I've slept all pregnancy.  Yay for that :)

Food Cravings? nothing.  I wonder if this answer will ever change in the next few months??

What I Miss? I've sat here and thought... and can't think of anything I truly miss at this point.

Symptoms? rounder, bigger, itchy belly ;)

Best Moment Last Week? feeling good!

Looking Forward to? hopefully ordering his bedding this week.  I found something we both liked from Target but some of the pieces aren't available anymore.  I've now found another one (Beyond Bedding), but I don't want all the pieces that come with it.  So I'm looking forward to figuring something out and finally ordering it.

What's your love story?

With Valentine's Day Tuesday, I decided join From Mrs. To Mama's link-up.

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We've been together almost 6 years.

 How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
Kirby and I met while teaching in Baltimore, Maryland in January 2006. He was a PE teacher at the same elementary school where I started long-term substitute teaching. In July of 2006 we started to spend a lot of time together and made our relationship official. Our first "official date" was at a Kelly Clarkson concert with one of Kirby's former students.

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry?
We got married on August 9, 2008....about 4.5 years!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We had a smallish wedding (biggish bridal party) on the beach, just a few blocks down from our home.  We had recently moved to South Carolina, so all of our family and most of our friends were from out of town.  It was a great long weekend of celebrating!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
I have to say I was not much of a nickname kinda gal when I met Kirby, but we ended up calling each other Sweetie... awwwww.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. Hard worker/passionate in everything he does.
2. Funny.  At least he makes me laugh anyway.  When we first met, I remember realizing how much I laughed around him .  I loved it...and still do!
3. Loving.  He's great at showing his love for me and others!

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
On June 15, 2007, the last day of school in Maryland, Kirby proposed to me at school. He had picked up the ring that day during his planning period with anticipation to propose that weekend. However, he couldn't wait, so he proposed in the office of his gym. I said yes and they announced it to the staff and students over the PA system at the end of the day. It couldn't have been more perfect!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
Well I've probably received more flowers than any of the others listed.... but I'd say he's all of the above.  He's a romantic, thoughtful man :)

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I'd say I'm both.  I love being romantic, but I am also completely satisfied relaxing together at home.

  10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Travel.  I'm not sure exactly where, but we talk about different places we want to go after our early retirement (fingers crossed) ;)

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
No plans yet.  If I had to guess... I'd say dinner at somewhere that we both love .

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I'm not asking for anything but time with Kirby.  I love spending time with him and that's what makes me the most happy and loved!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Communication.  All the time, lots of it.  We both agree (and talked about it early on in our relationship) that a healthy relationship needs communication.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

stroller shopping with the Kings

How much fun can first time parents have shopping for a stroller?
Well... we definitely had a good time! (the laughing snort and trying to talk between laughing should prove how much fun we had)

Originally, we liked the Chicco KeyFit 30.  Our friends had one and they really liked it.  Plus, it fit in the FJ Cruiser and it had good reviews.  But...when we went to the store today, we weren't sold on the stroller that went with it.  We started to look at the Safety 1st combos and eventually gave up because we couldn't figure out how the carseat attached to the stroller.  (It wasn't just us either.  Another couple came along and tried and couldn't figure it out either.)

Soo... we think we have our minds on the Baby Trend Expedition ELX now.  We'd love some feed back on what other people have, what you wish you would have known before buying, or any tips or advice you could give us.  Thanks in advance!

whirlpool + too much bubble bath =

So my husband who had been sick for a few days decided to go surfing Sunday afternoon before the Super Bowl (plus, he did the Polar Plunge on Saturday).  He admitted after getting home (freezing) that surfing probably wasn't the best idea being sick, so he decided to take a hot bath (he never takes baths).
He decided adding a little LOT of bubble bath with the whirlpool jets would be a good idea.  I ended up having to come to his rescue.  He stood up like a little kid as I had to pour water over top of him.  At this point, the avalanche of suds had made their way to the floor.  Clean-up took about an hour.

Boys.  Now we know what to look forward to when Kaden arrives!

week 20

20 weeks....I can't believe it!

Maternity Clothes? wearing more, but still a lot of regular clothes

Stretch Marks? nothing yet, but I (Kaden) had a big growth spurt, so we'll see...

Gender? surfer dude

Movement? I'm pretty sure I'm feeling him everyday now.  It feels like a bubble or flutter... and I love it!

Sleep? not too bad

Food Cravings? no cravings really...

What I Miss? I don't miss anything enough to complain ;)

Symptoms? I don't really have any symptoms.  Sometimes I forget I'm even pregnant.  I feel great!

Best Moment Last Week? making it half way there!  I can't believe in only 20 weeks we will get to meet Kaden!

Looking Forward to? ordering his bedding and working on the nursery

Rec basketball

Last weekend, we went to watch one of my students and a few past students play basketball.   I love seeing them outside of the school setting...I think they look so different.  I'm sure they think it's crazy to see their teachers outside of school too though. :)

They all did a great job!

(Bad photos... sorry)

cupcakes to celebrate

The Southern Cupcake Company didn't let us down again.  For Kirby's birthday on Sunday, I surprised him with a couple half a dozen cupcakes.  We had a few Bavarian Creme, Chocolate Peanut Butter, a red velvet, and tried their new bacon maple (which might be tied as my new favorite with banana chocolate).  I picked them up around 1:30 and they were all gone by 4:00!  Yummy!
