Baby Addyson

Out of 16 first grade teachers at our school, we have one male and he is expecting his first baby girl soon.  This afternoon his wife came over to school to join him at his baby shower.  It's common and easy to throw a baby shower for the mommy, but not as common or easy to throw one for the daddy.  But the ladies on his team sure did throw him a good one!  Good job Nancy, Annette, and Crean!

Poor baby Addyson will never want her boyfriend to see these pictures of her daddy dressed up...

{first the diaper...}

{bottle and bib next...}

{then the bonnet...}

{And don't forget "Daddy's Diaper Dootie" apron}

Here are a few more pictures from the shower...

7 facts award

Exciting news... we got another blog award!!

We received this award from Heather @ Greer's Gossip.  She's a teacher and lives in South Carolina too!  I love "meeting" teachers and people from SC in the blog world.  Thank you Heather!  Head on over and check out her blog!

7 facts about me-
1. I like to scrapbook.  However, since I've started to blog more, I haven't scrapbooked  much.

2. I love food... but who doesn't!  I realized the other day... I probably eat more when I'm not hungry than when I am hungry.  I'm trying to work on that though.

3. Kirby can make me laugh so hard... I snort and then get the hiccups! ;)

4. I bite the skin around my nails.  Gross huh?  If I paint them though, I don't do it as much.

5. When I was a kid, I used to take tap, jazz, baton, gymnastics, and cheerleading.

6. I've worked at McDonalds... and actually loved it!  My friend Lindsay worked there with me when we were 16 and we always had a good time.  I took my job seriously (not really) and even earned "Employee of the Month".  Booyah!

7. I love learning to cook new things.  Kirby's a good guinea pig too. :)

Since I'm new to these blog awards, I'm going to share the love with 2 ladies-

Anna @ A Day in the Life (love her name... and blog)
Kimmie @ Little Carrigan (friend of a high school friend)
      ------------------------------------------

Gosh... the weekend sure did come and go quickly!  Today was another relaxing day with Kirby.  We took another golf cart ride and then we decided to make ourselves a little (okay... big) calzone lunch/dinner.

Now I'm getting ready to shower, dig into some chocolate filled chocolate chip cookies and watch the Academy Awards!

relaxing Saturday

Overcast skies and not much on the agenda... makes for a nice & relaxing Saturday.  I went over to the UpWard basketball games this morning and watched some students while Kirby worked on learning some more of the Van Halen song

I have been itching to buy a bigger and better lens for my camera lately.  My friend Tina let me borrow hers to play around with.  Kirby and I went out on the golf cart and I was able to snap a few pictures with it on our ride.  Here's what I ended up with...

Van Halen 101

After playing/messing around with the guitar for the past 24 years, I'm finally making myself learn an entire Van Halen song note-for-note.  I started last Friday and I'm now half way through eight lessons for "Panama".  After searching, I decided this guy was as good as any to be my teacher (gotta love the power of YouTube).  Anna has only heard me play it over and over again about 4,641 times (give or take a few) without a single complaint.  Must be love.

WILW

I'm loving... all the babies on my mind this week.  My brother Andy and his girlfriend had their baby girl, Kalynn, on Monday night. AND my friends, Rachel & Ben, find out the sex of their little nugget tomorrow!  I can't wait for our trip this summer to visit both of them!

I'm loving... the weather.  This morning, I wasn't lovin' it, but it warmed up and was pretty nice in the afternoon.  I'm so grateful for the beautiful weather!

I'm loving... the Bible study I'm doing right now.  Tomorrow is our 3rd week and I'm learning so much!

I'm loving... our dinner tonight.  I made chicken tortilla soup for the first time and it turned out pretty good.  Kirby says it's a keeper. ;)

Of course... I'm loving... my husband!  He's wonderful and I'm so happy he's mine!

Top 2 Tuesday

I'm not gonna lie... sometimes I think about what I'm going to blog about all the way home from work and then come home and sit at the computer and still don't have any ideas.  So, I've decided to link up on Tuesdays and do Top 2 Tuesday with The Undomestic Momma.  Check her out.

This week it's-
Things you've learned from your parents or grandparents

Both are things my Dad would always say...

If there's a will, there's a way- I always hated hearing that from him when I was younger.  I would hear it all.the.time!  And just a few weeks ago when I was talking to my youngest brother, he said he always remembers my Dad saying that too.  It's definitely something that has stuck with us.

Work before play- Now, I'm not sayin' I always listen to this bit of advice all the time.  However, I do think it's good advice.  I actually use it in my classroom a lot.  The kids know on special days (Christmas, Valentine's Day) when we have extra "fun" activities, we have to do our work first.

Monday

OK- so sometime in January our painting project was finally completed.  It wasn't a quick task though.  We were consumed with painting for a good month or so until we were finally finished... or at least we thought we were.  Let me back up a little...

On Christmas morning, Kirby wrote "Merry Christmas Sweetie!  I love you!!!" on a wall (with permanent marker) we planned on repainting because we didn't like the first idea/color.

So a few days later we decided to repaint the wall green.  After a long day of painting, it was finally finished and looking good.  Well, about a week later we noticed the message was starting to show through the green paint!  We couldn't believe it!  Luckily, it wasn't too big of a deal to paint another coat over it because we had to get the paint back out and fix up some other areas.  That night, after about 4 coats of paint, we thought the problem was fixed.

Well... we thought wrong.  This weekend while sitting in the living room, Kirby noticed the message bled though again!  You may not be able to tell, but I tried to take a picture of it. *click on the picture to make it bigger

So, I think painting will be in our future again soon.  OR... maybe we'll just leave it as a decoration?!

Shopping Sunday

It was just me, myself... and a million other people out shopping today.  I had a bit of a shopping itch so I started in the south end of the Grand Strand around 12 and worked my way back home around 4:30.   My main reason for going out was to visit this place.

I didn't realize what I was missin' until I was in there again (this one just opened in Myrtle Beach).  Oh my gosh... so many cute things...I was on overload!  I probably spent a good hour in there.  I picked a few things out... walked around... then put some things back... went to the sale section...picked up a shirt... looked around again... looked around again (at the same stuff)... stood in line to pay... put it all back and left.  I was so overwhelmed (and hungry) that I ended up leaving with nothing!

Even though I wasn't successful at Forever 21, things went a lot better other places. Now I'm pooped and don't want to do anything.  Man- shopping really takes a lot of energy out of you. ;)
