Happy Father's Day

Children hold our hands for awhile, but our hearts forever.

A dad is a son's first hero.

I love your Dad even more... now that I've seen him love you.

He didn't tell me how to live; He lived and let me watch him do it.

Dad, you're someone to look up to no matter how tall I've grown.

Father/Son time

These boys love each other so much!  I can see a lot of father/son moments in the future!

Dad got Kaden a hat just like his... he loves it!

Playin' ball with Dad- even though he's more into eating the ball than catching it.

Learning the guitar-  They are actually playin' the guitar right now as I write.  I think Kaden's trying to be the lead singer of the band ;)

beep beep

I knew this day would come... the day Dad bought our son his first car.  However, I didn't think it would come this soon.  A few days before Christmas, Kirby decided to buy him a Porsche Carrera GT (well, not quite a real one).  Right now it is too big for him to drive himself (it's meant for 2-5 year olds), but that's okay... it's also remote controlled.

He seems to like it already, so he'll probably have his Dad's same love for cars as he grows older.

ruler

A few weekends ago, while looking through way too many some pins I pinned on Pinterest, I came across this idea.

Kirby had been itching to work on a project (it seemed like he had a project of some sort every weekend BK- before Kaden), so this was the perfect opportunity to get to work.  A few trips to Lowes and a couple breaks to play with Kaden, we had a great piece of work that will be with us as Kaden "grows".

another trip to the ER...

Since moving to the south, my husband has made it a habit of getting injured while doing some of his favorite hobbies.  A few years ago he broke some ribs surfing.  Not much later he broke his collar bone and arm longboarding.  So, last Tuesday I wasn't surprised hearing him walk through the house in his wetsuit, telling me not to worry, but he needs to go to the ER to get his face stitched up.  After trying to get covered up by a wave, his surfboard snapped back and gashed his face from the corner of his nose (he said he felt it "flapping").  I wanted to take him to the ER, but he said no since Kaden was sleeping and didn't want to disturb him.  He drove himself with a wadded up piece of toilet paper soaking up the blood.  When I asked later, he admitted to being light-headed while driving to the hospital from losing blood earlier.  The gash went almost all the way through to the inside.  Luckily, no nerve damage.  Seven stitches later, he was good as new.  Well, almost.  At least the ER doctor did a great job lining things back up!

Stitch Removal 101: who needs a doctor when a pair of scissors and tweezers will do?  (hmmm... I think he's done this before)...

projects, projects, and more projects

Kirby has been working on his never-ending to-do list as we prepare for Kaden's arrival.  He's such a hard worker and that's one of the many reasons I love him!  He's finished a lot of them already, but if Kaden doesn't come soon, I know he'll find another project to add to the list.

1. put together the crib & changing table

2. clean bathrooms

3. spruce up the yard (his favorite on the list)

3. complete Kaden's room... paint, hang pictures

4. paint and clean Kaden's bathroom

5. put together a few of Kaden's things

6. Install the car seat

7. Hang up a few new pieces in the living room

Thank you to my great husband for all his hard work!
He's awesome!

Fathers

Happy Father's Day to all these special fathers who have influenced our lives.

Kirby's father, Doug-  even though I never met him under healthy conditions, I know he was a great man who loved his children and grandchildren.  He's special to us and that's why his youngest grandson will share his middle name.

Kirby's stepfather, Ed- a great man who makes Kirby's mother very happy.  He's been through a lot as he survived esophageal cancer, and continues to be a strong, hard working person.

My father, Bill- even though I haven't had a relationship with him in a few years, my heart holds a very special place for him.

Kaden's father, Kirby-  Now I just have to brag and tell you, he is going to be such a great Dad!  He's a man of integrity, determination, thoughtfulness, love, and compassion.  He's going to love Kaden unconditionally and support him through life's celebrations & challenges.  I know Kaden is going to look up to him in so many ways!
