week 32

About the baby? Almost 4 pounds, give or take.

Maternity Clothes? regular shirts are almost out of the question at this point.  I didn't want to get anymore maternity clothes, but I think it's inevitable.
Stretch Marks? I see none :)

Gender? boy

Movement?   Oh yes, sometimes I can even see them from the outside too! So cool!

Sleep?  It's not the best sleep I've ever had, but I know it could be worse.  My hips are hurting from sleeping on my side for too long and lately his body is positioned in a way that makes it hurt to lay on my right side.

Food Cravings? none

What I Miss?  bending over to see my toes... haha.  my toenail busted off a few days ago and I couldn't even bend down to see how much got taken off.  I went to get a pedicure yesterday and had to ask the man how much was left on my toe!

Symptoms? stretching, shortness of breath, contractions...

Best Moment This Week?  Getting a school baby shower invitation sent to me :)

Looking Forward To?
-Our birthing and breastfeeding classes are the next few weekends
-starting our 2 week appointments (gosh, I can't believe how far along we are)
-Getting to meet Kaden!!  I think about it more and more everyday... I just can't wait to see what that little man looks like growing inside me!

Baby shower for Kaden

A few weeks ago, some of my good friends threw me a baby shower.  I couldn't have been more grateful and appreciative for all they did!  It means so much to have great people in our lives that love, care, and support us throughout this journey!

It was a perfect day to celebrate Kaden and that's just what we did!  I loved all the details, (all beach/surfing related of course) food, fellowship, and amazing gifts we received.  Kaden is definitely spoiled and he's not even here yet!

All the great hostesses!

All of our family live around the country, so I was so happy my
Aunt Crissy, my cousin Lucy and her little one, Connor could make the trip from Charleston.  It meant so much to have some family there!

A few of our neighbors came too!

Some school friends

Here are a few gifts we got:

Kaden's first concert

So, last Saturday we took Kaden to his "first concert" in Greensboro, NC, to see his dad's favorite band, Van Halen.  Kirby and I saw them there back in 2007, as well.  The evening didn't go exactly as we thought it would, but we still had fun.  Kirby specifically bought tickets to be on Eddie Van Halen's side of the stage.  Bad thing was, there were huge speakers right in front of our seats.  Despite our doctor telling us going to the concert was perfectly OK for Kaden, Kirby and I were a little concerned with the volume during opening act, Kool and the Gang.  Yes, you read that right, Kool and the Gang opened for Van Halen.  Kirby suggested we move to some empty seats in the very back of the coliseum.  The volume level was much better there.  However, when Van Halen took the stage, it got extremely loud.  After listening to the first song or two, Kirby got worried again for Kaden, so we ended up watching most of the show from behind the entrance curtain in the hallway.  Like our doctor said, and from the research we did online, we would have probably been fine, but we both couldn't help but think how the prolonged loudness could have possibly scared our little guy had we stayed at our seats.

"your belly reminds me of..."

...the front of a Ducati Sport Classic.
Only my husband would compare my pregnant belly to a Ducati. ;)

More on baby stuff...

We had an appointment today and Kaden's heartbeat was 150 (we think he's workin' out in there) and he's head down or "locked and loaded and ready to go" as the doctor said.  Hopefully he'll stay like that for the remaining weeks.  It's good to know how he's positioned because I can finally identify with what body part is making the bumps and lumps and kicks now.

From here on out, we go to the doctor every 2 weeks!

week 31

About the baby? Kaden is a little over 3 pounds and the size of a pineapple

Maternity Clothes? a few dresses are maternity, but mostly regular dresses and skirts now

Stretch Marks? still none... crossing my fingers I can get through the next 2 months without any

Gender? surfer dude

Movement?   still movin' and lovin' it!

Sleep?  Oooh sleep... it's good for me.  But for Kirby.  Not so much.  Someone has been snoring a lot and Kirby had to sleep on the couch one night and now the air mattress has been permanently set up in Kaden's room

Food Cravings? none

What I Miss?  I love being pregnant, but I'm definitely ready to get in shape as soon as he arrives!

Symptoms? snoring, tiredness, stretching

Best Moment This Week?  getting so many gifts sent to us in the mail and having the crib, changing table, and glider be delivered.  Kirby has the crib ready to go, so once the other things are put together, I plan on taking pictures of the finished nursery.

Looking Forward To?
Two things:
1. finishing Kaden's room
2. going to our doctor's appointment tomorrow

Things to remember:
-Kaden is moving around everywhere!  I think he's doing jumping jacks because sometimes I feel movement in 4 different places all at the same time!
-I think I might have had a few sporadic contractions the past few days.... not sure though.
-Kaden went to his first concert.... Dad's favorite, Van Halen!  (another post about that soon)

Randoms from spring break

I really didn't take too many pictures over spring break, so I decided to group them all together in one post.

1. It looks like the birds are drinkin' the water around here too!  Kirby found this nest of baby birds in one of our palm trees at the beginning of spring break.  We've watched them grow so quickly... it's amazing... they're almost ready to fly!

2. Dave and Darlene came into town.  We enjoyed our usual Mexico Lindo trip, a home cooked meal, and games.

3. I found this cute and super easy idea on Pinterest and was so excited to try it for our Easter dinner.  Kirby asked if I had taken a picture of it...  Really, did you have to ask that?

4. My friend Bess welcomed their little girl, Maggie, into the world over spring break too!  I'm so glad Jeanna and I were able to go over and meet her.  She's beautiful!

week 30

*After the baby shower on Saturday, so I'm looking a little tired.*

About the baby? Our baby is around 3lbs already!  I read somewhere (one of the 5 websites or 8 books I read) that he'll gain... or maybe that was I'll gain a pound a week from here on out.  Gosh, I just had a moment... that's a lot!

Maternity Clothes? nothing new in this category.  However, it took for.ever to find a dress to wear to my shower.  I tried on several regular dresses, just bigger sizes, and couldn't find one that was a good length (meaning, not to short or not to short in the front and longer in the back)

Stretch Marks? surprising, no :)

Gender? boy

Movement?   oh yes!  Mr. Kaden has woke up his mom several times this week with his forceful karate kicks!

Sleep?  Not too bad, but both hips are super sore when I wake up.

Food Cravings? I might just take this category out because I have yet to crave something (that is not out of the normal, pre-pregnancy cravings)!

What I Miss?  being able to breathe ;)

Symptoms? bigger belly, that's for sure

Best Moment This Week?  2 big things this week:
1. working in Kaden's room!  Kirby has done so much work and I am so thankful for it all.  He knows I'm super impatient and antsy!  I plan to post pictures of all his hard work soon.
2. celebrating Kaden at the baby shower yesterday.  I'm so grateful for what my friends did for us and I was so happy to spend some time with people who love and care about us!

Looking Forward To?  Kaden's crib and the glider are coming to us next week... can't wait!!

Things to remember:
1. I passed the 3-hour glucose test "with flying colors" according to the nurse!
2. I've started to get light-headed and queasy lately.  Since my blood work came back okay, I'm not sure what's going on.
3.  Kaden has a foot or something stuck under my right rib!  I've analyzed his movements and hiccups lately and he might have turned head down... we'll see?!?

will make.
Only about 2 months and we will see!

week 29

About the baby? He's growing quickly and weighs around 2 1/2 pounds.

Maternity Clothes? I went out and bought a few more shirts and dresses, but they are regular clothes... just a size bigger.  I can't bring myself to spend almost double the money on the same type of clothing just because it's called "maternity".

Stretch Marks? nope.  I check myself everyday though since I'm getting bigger.

Gender? surfer boy

Movement?   Yes... lots of pushing, sliding and rolling around.  My belly is very often lopsided.

Sleep?  Crazy, but actually I've been sleeping pretty good (most days).  Maybe I'm getting used to the new sleeping position and all the pillows.  I'm sure it won't last long though ;)

Food Cravings? I'm sure pretty this category has had the same answer from the very beginning... nothing.

What I Miss?  not analyzing every.single.thing that's going on with my body.

Symptoms? well... my body is slowly preparing me for what's to come in June.  I have lots of stretching pain, bones and such are shifting, and it's a lot harder to do things like bend over.

Best Moment Last Week?  getting my shower invitation in the mail... I can't wait!

Looking Forward To?  Spring break is here, so we are finally starting to work on Kaden's room... which has been more of a stress than I anticipated.

Things to remember:
1. I didn't pass the 1 hour glucose test, so I took the 3 hour test on Friday.  Hopefully we'll get the results back today.
2. I passed out while having an ultrasound on the veins in my leg last week.  I'm not sure how I am ever going to give birth to our child without passing out.... haha.

blue vs. gold

We had our annual PTO staff vs. staff basketball fundraiser a few weeks ago.  It was my first year not being able to play in it, so I sold 50/50 tickets.  Sad... but I wouldn't change it for the world.  Of course, Kirby made his appearance as Bobby Bill.
