simple, comfortable, & casual

Many people have asked what is appropriate for the boys/men to wear to the wedding. Hopefully by posting these pictures, some people will have a better idea.
Kirby and I went shopping (finally) for his clothes last night. We started at Old Navy. They didn't have much, but they did have a shirt on sale that we both really liked. We thought it would be nice for him to have a shirt that was just a little bit different from his groomsmen.
We went to American Eagle next.... nothing. Next stop was Gap and it had everything we were looking for. After getting in trouble for taking pictures, we ended up going with khaki pants (with a small white pinstripe) and a light-weight long sleeved shirt for the groomsmen. Here is my wonderful fiance modeling in the dressing rooms. (1st pic is his attire, 2nd pic is the groomsmen's attire)

I'm happy... it's a big check off the list. He's happy... he found something cheap and that everything should like. :) We are both happy!!!

CHECK! CHECK! CHECK!

The long weekend with K and Rachel is over (... sad), BUT we have many BIG things checked off our list. (...happy!) After the first walk on the beach, we started the weekend off with what I thought would have been the biggest project. This is when the "bridezilla" jokes started coming!

They weren't too excited about this project... I felt bad and ended up finishing the cutting part the next morning before they got up. :) ... see I'm not bridezilla. However, Rachel and Karolyn still thought I was trying to keep them prisoners in our home. Rachel couldn't figure out how to get out of the house one morning to check the weather, then it rained pretty hard another day, and of course the sun didn't come out very often while they were here.... therefore they kept the bridezilla joke running all weekend long!

We got my hair done Friday morning before we tried the beach again. We aren't sure if she was ready for me, so I noticed she didn't put the best effort into making it perfect. However, I did like it and we talked about what was going to be different on the day of. I am going to wear my veil for the ceremony and then the flower for the reception. :)

The flowers were the longest/hardest project. We cut and wrapped all the bridal party's bouquets first. Then we moved onto the centerpieces. This is where we all had to think about things and really come up with the best idea. (the centerpieces will all have sand in them)Thanks to my girls and my fiance, they turned out wonderful! Now, I just can't wait to see them completed on Aug. 9th!

Well, I have many more pictures, but since my camera isn't working on the computer... this will have to do. I guess it's a good thing though- I don't want all the details to be revealed before the wedding! Here are a few pictures of the weekend... proof that I wasn't bridezilla the WHOLE time!

misc.things

I took this picture awhile ago, but I just now could take it off Kirby's camera. My camera is still not working, so I'll start using his to take pictures.

Shown above is:
-card box (may or may not have it covered differently)
-cake topper (letter K)
-materials for the guestbook pens
-tablecloths for our sweetheart table and the candy buffet table

When the girls get here tomorrow we will begin our "to-do-list" (...after the beach of course!)
1. put together flowers bouquets for BM's and centerpieces
2. shop for the last part of the out of town bags and finishing putting them together
3. put together the programs (not looking forward to that part)
4. going to my hair trail and maybe make-up trail
5. cut out and prepare rehearsal dinner invites

Gosh- do you think I make a lot of lists. Haha :)
More pictures to come soon....

Frani is GREAT!

So just a few weeks ago, Kirby and I asked Frani (Kirby's mom) to make wooden signs for us to have as decoration at the wedding reception. She's into wood-working and has created a lot of things for their house. We were very excited to have her personal touch in the wedding... and WOW! we were blow away when we saw what she had done!

We love them and plan to use them at the entrance table of the wedding reception.

Aren't the polka dots perfect!! :) She added that touch herself... and it's going to look great with our polka dot theme!
THANKS FRANI!

weather

If our wedding weather is anything like the weather today, we are in for a great day!! It was 83 and a breezy enough to keep cool, but not to blow your head off.
We are working on our welcome cookout (rehearsal dinner) invites now. We plan on attaching them to the OOT bags (out of town) and sending an email to the bridal party. Keep a look out for them!

Still cutting our programs.... it is such a project. I do a little at a time so I don't drive myself crazy. When K and Rachel get here, I plan on having them help put them together. Hopefully by then my camera is working!!

My checklist is getting more detailed the closer we get. :) I'm so excited!

Grrr...

Well I started this blog hoping to put pictures and updates as often as possible. If it wasn't for our computer being messed up- I probably would have written 2 more times. We have had computer troubles and we just found out that something has been deleted off our computer that allows us to upload our pictures. Anyways- Kirby's going to look at it and hopefully fix it.

Until then- I'll give a short update. I went shopping (5 1/2 hrs. worth of shopping!) yesterday and bought a few things. (which I took a picture of.... ) I bought the materials to put together some gerber daisy pens to use for the guestbook. Here is an example of what it'll look like.

I also bought a cardbox, tablecloths, and some materials to finish up our programs. Here is photo of what the programs will look like. (of course the real pics will have to come later)

My project I'm working on now are necklaces for my bridesmaids. I found a picture online awhile ago and decided I was going to make them. It's not too hard, I'll just have to watch a lot of TV shows while I make them!
More to come when the computer is fixed.

8 WEEKS TO GO!

Today begins the countdown in weeks! I can't believe it's coming up so quickly! I worked on printing out our programs today. I plan to start cutting them soon and hopefully getting some help with finishing them up from Rachel and Karolyn when they come to visit. (10 days until they come!!!)

Some things on my "to-do-list" right now are:
-confirm menu
-shop for lingerie
-color the sand for the sand ceremony
-find tableclothes for the sweetheart's table and the candy buffet
-cut & put together programs
-make the BM's jewelry
-order candle for Kirby's dad
-order something special for my dad
-work on our parents gift
-finish up the candy labels

I know it seems like a lot, but it's all fairly small projects. Since school is offically out for the summer... we'll have lots of time to work on things.
One big check off the list is Kirby's ring. He was never in too big of a hurry to pick it out, but he's finally done it. The best part is we bought it on Ebay!!!

Well I plan on keeping up with the blog as often as possible. Keep checkin' back for updates!

My first blog

I thought I'd start a blog. I know... I feel like I'm following a trend, but I think it's a great way to keep track of memories (since I have a horrible memory) and another way to communicate with family and friends.

This blog is going to start off being mostly about wedding planning. I'm sure after we get married (2 months away!) it will turn into a blog about our marriage and life in South Carolina
Here is some of our engagement photos we had taken about 2 months ago. (Click: https://webmail.horrycountyschools.net/owa/redir.aspx?C=526103b5dae642909037069e5e49ee54&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.bluecrushphoto.com%2fSlideshows%2fAnna_KirbyEngagement)We had such a good time and it has me even more excited about our wedding pictures! :)

I hope to post more tonight. I have to write out our thank you's from my bridal shower. Some girls at school threw me a "beach themed" shower last Thursday! It was great! Anyways... hopefully more later.
