It's been quite the day!

Well folks we made it here… but it wasn’t without excitement... stopping to help an injured motorcyclist who luckily didn’t die after crashing into and going under the trailer of a semi truck, and then driving through the left behind wrath of a tornado’s destruction from the storms the other night. Needless to say we had a lot to talk about as we finished up the drive.
Kirby and I were awestruck as we drove across the bridge to the OBX and then south on such small strip of land! We had sand and water on both sides of us. 

Kirby couldn't even wait until we got to our campsite to check out the waves.  We pulled over at a beach access and went to see if the surf was all that they say it is.  He was so excited when he saw clean, glassy, head to over-head waves. 

Once we got to the site, we quickly set up our tent, changed into our suits, and headed over the dunes to the beach.

After a few hours of that, we drove around to look for a place to eat.  We ended up eating chicken fingers and a bacon cheeseburger at Atlantic Coast Cafe across the street from our campsite. 

Now we're cleaned up and ready for bed.  Kirby is already talking about surf tomorrow morning. :)
