What's your love story?

With Valentine's Day Tuesday, I decided join From Mrs. To Mama's link-up.

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
We've been together almost 6 years.

 How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
Kirby and I met while teaching in Baltimore, Maryland in January 2006. He was a PE teacher at the same elementary school where I started long-term substitute teaching. In July of 2006 we started to spend a lot of time together and made our relationship official. Our first "official date" was at a Kelly Clarkson concert with one of Kirby's former students.

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry?
We got married on August 9, 2008....about 4.5 years!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We had a smallish wedding (biggish bridal party) on the beach, just a few blocks down from our home.  We had recently moved to South Carolina, so all of our family and most of our friends were from out of town.  It was a great long weekend of celebrating!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
I have to say I was not much of a nickname kinda gal when I met Kirby, but we ended up calling each other Sweetie... awwwww.

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
1. Hard worker/passionate in everything he does.
2. Funny.  At least he makes me laugh anyway.  When we first met, I remember realizing how much I laughed around him .  I loved it...and still do!
3. Loving.  He's great at showing his love for me and others!

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
On June 15, 2007, the last day of school in Maryland, Kirby proposed to me at school. He had picked up the ring that day during his planning period with anticipation to propose that weekend. However, he couldn't wait, so he proposed in the office of his gym. I said yes and they announced it to the staff and students over the PA system at the end of the day. It couldn't have been more perfect!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
Well I've probably received more flowers than any of the others listed.... but I'd say he's all of the above.  He's a romantic, thoughtful man :)

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I'd say I'm both.  I love being romantic, but I am also completely satisfied relaxing together at home.

  10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
Travel.  I'm not sure exactly where, but we talk about different places we want to go after our early retirement (fingers crossed) ;)

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
No plans yet.  If I had to guess... I'd say dinner at somewhere that we both love .

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I'm not asking for anything but time with Kirby.  I love spending time with him and that's what makes me the most happy and loved!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
Communication.  All the time, lots of it.  We both agree (and talked about it early on in our relationship) that a healthy relationship needs communication.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
